I am very grateful for Gilbert’s lessons! He taught me everything I needed to know to pass my driving exam and become a better driver! I have driven for many years in my home country but needed help to adapt to the DC driving rules. He was patient and kept reinforcing specific points that could be an issue during my test + tips for defensive driving. I highly recommend his classes!

It's not often a business has 200+ 5 star reviews, but Gmel Driving Academy does and the reviews are right! As an adult driver who hadn't driven in years and had no experience driving in DC, Gilbert was patient and gave lots of practical advice. He tailored the lesson to the things I wanted to work on, and he spent time making sure I felt comfortable. I hadn't driven in cars with modern cameras and parking assistance technology, but Gilbert's SUV had all these features. He taught me lots of little tricks and had me doing parallel and reversing parking perfectly in no time! Gilbert is a fantastic instructor and I can't recommend him and Gmel Driving Academy enough.

I’m grateful to Mr Gilbert, because I do not think I would be able to obtain a driving license without his excellent lessons. Since I had a bad experience with another school. He teach very well and knows how to explain it well to the student. He always corrects you when you make mistakes gently, he lets you learn from your own mistakes but never discouraged, very encouraging and this is very important. Good motivator. Patient all through the classes. Mr Gilbert very accommodating to your schedules and needs. He is always on time, I never waited for him. He will ensure you are prepared to pass. Mr Teddy is a fantastic teacher- patient, encouraging and even when he’s correcting you, he does it gently and always treats you with respect. I’ll always remember him calling me ‘my friend…’. When I finished my test, the examiner, who saw and knew Mr Teddy said he could tell I was his student with how careful and smooth my driving was. The other teacher Mr Ish is also very good. Overall I have a lot of respect for the company as they accomodated many of my unusual requests when I needed a few classes in the same week. They were were responsive on email. A minor thing, but the cars were clean, smelling good and easy to learn on. I’ve been to other driving schools where this was not the case. I’ve got my license but I’ll always remember them fondly.
The overall experience here was amazing! My instructors were Mr. Ish & Mr. Teddy, and they are absolutely the best at what they do. Even though I had no prior driving experience, they boosted my confidence, & were patient and encouraging all the way! I highly recommend to go to this guys and you’ll definitely learn to drive with confidence.
If you need to learn how to drive, don’t hesitate, pick DC Star. I was nervous about driving and booked a few lessons. Mr. Ish and Mr. Teddy were both amazing teachers, patient and kind. They get you to practice on the actual test route so that by the time the test happens you are already familiar with the roads. They also taught parallel parking with cones. I passed on my first try! I even got to do a 1 hour lesson before and use their car. 100% recommend!
I took 10 hours behind the wheel with both instructors, Mr. Ish and Mr. Teddy. As a first-time learner, their thorough guidance and training not only helped me pass the road test on my first trial but also gave me confidence and comfort throughout the training sessions. I highly recommend both instructors if you are planning to get your driver’s license.
If I look behind from the very beginning of the journey, I can't describe everything in just a word. I feel blessed that I found that school for my driving classes. From the very beginning Mr. teddy helped me so much. He is so humble and gentle. I really appreciate his patience. I can't thank him enough. I took 6hours lessons and an hour before road test with car usage. I got my license on my first try. If I want to talk about parallel parking, Mr. teddy's tricks and tips helped me practice in a way that built both skill and confidence. Though, I was bit nervous but I did it. I am really grateful for his guidance. He not only focuses on road test skills but also make sure that we learn all the fundamentals as well as safety. Furthermore, I would like to highly recommend this school specially for the beginners. It's the best driving school in DC and so reasonable.

I took three two-hour lessons with Ethio Star after *never* having driven before - starting from zero. Two weeks after my first lesson, I passed the road test on my first try. I loved working with the instructors at Ethio Star, and can't recommend them enough - they were punctual, professional, and were able to squeeze me in last-minute for additional parallel parking help even though they were fully booked. Thank you so much!
I used Ethio start as a third party my son pass his road test today . He mentioned his teacher was very patient explaining very well he mentions he feels less stressed whit his teacher than when he go whit me . 😂 the teacher took his time to explain and used his car . Ethio is an excellent teacher. I had one full 2-hour class and an additional 30 minutes class as a refresher as I needed to retake my license after it expired while I was overseas. He explains simply and practically, very gentle when you make mistakes and is very reassuring. Thank you Ethio. You are the best!

This driving school is great and really recommend. I learned lots of things with in a short period of time. He taught me all the things I need to know to pass the road test and gave me different strategies. In addition, the price is also fair comparing to the training and his schedule is flexible.

The driver instructor was very rude and made degrading comments. Would not recommend. This is not spam. Charles Smith's teaching skills are awful and he does not deserve to teach. If I could give zero stars, I would.
Ms. Elaine Butler is an AMAZING driving instructor!!! My daughter had lessons with Ms. Elaine from January to May 2021. My daughter passed her road test on the first try. Ms. Elaine was so patient and provided great tips. She built my daughter's confidence behind the wheel. I highly recommend Ms. Elaine and CAS Driving School for teens learning to drive.

I took my 3rd party road test with CAS. Mr. Smith was amazing. He handled all the paperwork and when we started driving, he was so calm that I instantly felt great driving (I was quite nervous before). You can tell he's a wonderful instructor!
Took driving lessons and road skills test with CAS, it’s easy to book time via the app. Don’t hesitate to call them if you need to move an appointment or would like to find a possible late booking and they sometimes can accommodate. I’d like to particularly call out and thank MM. Morrison and Smith for helping me with the lessons, and Ms. Arica for finding me bookings in a busy calendar!

I can't speak for the whole school but I can vouch for Steven. I came to him with absolutely 0 experience behind the wheel (I don't think midnight club video game can count as experience, lol) and that was fine with him. Instead of starting me off on the road he took me to RFK stadium. At RFK we drove around until I felt comfortable enough to go on the road. I was nervous driving on the road with other cars, but his conversation made me feel very comfortable. When other cars blew at me because I refused to block the intersection he assured me that I was in the right, and they were in the wrong. This was my first time, and at the end of my 2 hr session, I was able to drive my own self home. Through out the ride we talked about numerous things, and he assured me plenty of times that my driving was great for my first time. I would defiantly recommend this school if all of their drivers are like Steven, and I would request him if he's available. The down side is that I've been calling for 3 days to book another appointment with him on both phone numbers, but no one will answer, so I'm going to Ethiostar driving school. Hopefully they'll fix their phones, but other than that 5 stars for me. Side note: I noticed people saying that the drivers never showed up. I scheduled mines on the phone and he showed up on time. So my advice is to call instead of scheduling online. Their cars were also very up to date.
I have been calling non stop this week and no one has answered or returned my calls. I had a road test scheduled for last month buy I canceled a week before my appointment. I went through their refund process and it has not been 3 weeks going on four that I have not been returned my 80$ .
I sincerely encourage anyone who has a friend or relative to introduce them to Jules. He is delightful , motivating and patient when it comes to instructing you. I have never driven outside of this school or instructor and I have achieved passing my road test because of Jules.Thank you and God Bless you for your willingness to help people reach this milestone.Stay Blessed
I can only speak for me but these other people who have bad reviews are lying. Mr Jules and Mr Hernandez are great instructors I had a very bad phobia of driving. They both helped me get over my phobia and they were so nice and made me comfortable and always were on time for our appt they are great instructors and I would recommend them to anyone
I was refer by a friend who obviously had good driving lesson from this driving school and today I am happy to write a review to recommend them. Very professional and with new cars full of technology. if you are looking for driving school give them a try.
