I had a hard time passing the test with the help of parents so I decided to take lessons at Silver Lake Driving School and it was the best decision I made!! I ended up passing my test all thanks to my instructor Darrin. He was very helpful in teaching me in the areas that i needed work in, very funny and helped me gain confidence in my driving abilities. I highly recommend this driving school.

His teaching style is rare—he never patronizes or creates a hierarchy, gives you room to choose what you want to practice, and brings humor and cultural sensitivity to every session. Don't be fooled by his cheerful vibe and performing arts background—he's watching your driving like a hawk and steps in the moment safety’s at risk or if he thinks you need to improve a manoeuvre. I also had one lesson with Darren, who helped boost my confidence behind the wheel. My experience has been amazing! I would recommend silver lake driving school to any adult or teenager. I had a great experience with safari driving school. I only had two lesson with Mr. Ali and I passed on the first try. I can’t recommend this driving school enough because it’s so affordable compared to the other driving schools. If you want to pass on your first try make sure you practice with Mr Ali. He will prep you with everything you need. Good luck!!!
Safari driving school is a good driving school. Alis is a good teacher. I failed the test before but after going to this school I finally passed in flying colors. He is patient and knowledgeable. I will highly recommend this Driving school.

My son just completed the online course and we were very impressed with Adam's knowledge and teaching of the information. I would highly recommend this course as they have been very easy to work with and this option worked well with our busy schedules. Drew has learned a lot and Adam kept things very interesting for him with personal stories, videos and just his expertise in general. Thank you Adam.
This was my son's first real experience driving in Rochester. He really enjoyed Mike, and feels "like a professional driver" now haha he said Mike made him feel very comfortable and explained things really well so that he understood.
Update: My oldest especially took his EDI training to heart. He has a perfect driving record and now drives children to school. I credit his skills to what he learned at EDI. We just finished the classes for the third time--all three of my children went through this program. My oldest really took it to heart and is a very safe driver. My middle is driving all over the state this summer. My youngest passed the permit test yesterday. We originally asked for recommendations from friends and EDI was highly recommended. Now it's my turn--I highly recommend EDI. Yes, driver's education is expensive, but this is worth every penny. And the peace of mind is priceless.
EDI has been a great place for my girls to learn how to drive. The classroom work was very clear and informative. The driving instruction was encouraging and adapted to their developing skills. The cost is very reasonable for the value you get from the instruction. I would highly recommend using EDI for your student's driving instruction needs.
A mixed bag. Cons: Instructor for classroom portion was not set up with microphone, and attendees could not always hear very well. Instructor for classroom portion made a number of political comments, which is unnecessary and unprofessional (my take, no matter the "leaning" of the comments). Instructor for classroom portion offered students candy in return for leaving 5-star Google reviews. Definitely tacky and left me wondering what kind of ethics are behind the business as a whole. Pros: Instruction booklet is well organized and presents information very well. Driving instructors were diligent about letting us know of cancellations/changes on their end.

The online education was simple and straightforward to do. Having one on one behind the wheel training with Tom was perfect for passing the road test.
During my search for behind the wheel training Class “A” CDL, I was looking for a place that would cater to my already full schedule, and the CMV Tutor did just that. I was able to train on weekends. Tom is also an awesome instructor, that is able to tell you exactly what you need to work on to improve. It’s no surprise, that he has such a high success rate. He isn’t there to just get you to complete the training then send you on your way. He ensures that you are ready to take the exam, by giving you all the skills and confidence to pass. I’m am glad I went through the CMV Tutor for my Class “A” CDL.
I have had my class a for over a year but had an auto restriction on my license. CMV tutor was the only place in MN I could find that could work with me to learn to drive a manual and get that restriction removed without trying to cram it in in a week long refresher course. You'll get one on one training and will go at the pace that works for you to get you to where you're ready to test. I had Tom as my trainer and he did a great job. I would recommend CMV tutor for anyone that wants to learn to drive a manual truck and get your class a.
Tom is a great guy and a great trainer. He taught me everything I needed to know and more about driving and the industry. What I liked was it was one on one lessons and felt I learned more this way. If you are new to the industry and truck driving, I definitely recommend Tom. He is a great trainer and will teach you everything you need to know.
Tom was a great instructor. His many years of driving and teaching shows in his instruction and answers to questions. When he feels you are ready to test, he will send you to test. Not before. I went to him because of my schedule. I work full time and have three kids and a insane schedule of activities. The online course is at your own pace. And he does weekends and nights for pre-trip and behind the wheel. He really does care about you passing, doing your best and being a professional driver.

My son completed his behind the wheel hours & road course last weekend with Mike A. We couldn't have been more pleased with Mike's patience, attention to detail, knowledge & he is very easy going. My son was nervous at first but everything went smoothly as he gained more confidence in himself. In fact, I think he has more confidence driving in Fargo @ 14 (almost 15), than my daughter does & she's 3 years older. Heavy D is a family-focused driving school. Students learn the ins and outs of driving in a classroom setting and then put their skills to use as they begin permit driving. Eric was encouraging and supportive and was always available to answer any questions. My son felt he learned a great deal with Kim during his behind-the-wheel training. She showed our son the sweet "stick spot" in learning how to parallel park and corner back in. To my amazement, our son did it perfectly his first time and never looked back! He passed his road test with flying colors thanks to Eric and Kim! I highly recommend Heavy D!
I never write reviews, but this one I really want to share. We are happy that our daughter had a chance to take her driving lessons at Heavy D Driving School. It is difficult these days to find such professionals who can explain and graft the right driving attitude and responsibility to a teen. I am self-taught... and now my daughter is pointing to deficiencies in my driving :) need to work on that. Those students who get a chance to take lessons with Mike A. - one of the school instructors will be really lucky. He does a great job, I am sure other instructors too. We had a great experience with Heavy D Driving. Highly recommend!
I can’t say enough good things about this driving school! As a single mom, I was really struggling to find a school that could fit my daughter in on short notice, I had no idea how quickly they fill up. But Eric and Brandon were amazing. Brandon worked with our short timeline and even handled pick-up and drop-off, which was such a huge help. My daughter was initially nervous about driving with a male instructor, but Brandon’s kind demeanor and teaching style put her at ease almost immediately. She came home after each lesson more confident and kept telling me about things like “SMOG” and “cover and check” clearly, she was actually learning and retaining important skills. If you're looking for a professional, compassionate, and truly student-focused driving instructor, this is the place to go!
Craig with Heavy D Driving was prompt when picking up my daughter for each of her sessions. He was professional, patient, and knowledgeable. My daughter enjoyed working with him and he gave her great tips while teaching her parallel parking too! She felt comfortable driving with him and she feels ready for her upcoming road test. My experience at with the Alamo Driving School has been superb on multiple levels. The staff at Alamo really know how to work and communicate with an array of people from all walks of life. I learned how to drive, but not only that I made legitimate connections with my instructors. The people teaching you cannot be likened corporate figure heads or impersonal clerks at your local convenience store, they are real people with real lives that know how to relate to you and instruct you on a very personal and meaningful basis. Immediately from the start I felt confident and relaxed under my instructor's care and as my lessons progressed so did my friendship with the instructors. These people genuinely care about your progress and development of safe driving habits. Their mission is to get you your license and ensure that you will become a safe and defensive driver. In addition to everything you'd want out of a behind the wheel experience I had great conversation and learned some important life lessons. If you're looking to start driving and to learn how to drive safely take at least their 8 hours of lessons and road test package. I highly recommend 8 hours or more--it gives you ample time to improve and cover all aspects of driving. In addition, if you choose the road test option they will set you up with a road test in a fraction of the time it would normally take to schedule an appointment. I passed my road test on the first try and made some awesome friends--I do not believe I would have had a better experience learning how to drive anywhere else. Coming from the heart, thanks guys!
Mohamed was an amazing teacher of my driving! It is helpful that he always sticks to driving manual manual and very stringent on my driving, which turned out to be really helpful. And I was able to pass the driving exam for the first shot. Of course, my experience was not completely perfect. They are short of staff, and it was difficult for me to contact with them first of all. (I think something is wrong with their website.) Sometimes they was not able to pick me up on time. Even with these negative points, I give five stars. I hope they can hire more staff and expand their business, so that many people can obtain driver's licenses more easily.
I had a great experience at Alamo Driving School. They have good teachers that teach very good and they talk clear. I went there for my 30 hours of classroom and I learned a lot more things about driving. I finished the 30 hours and got my blue card and passed the knowledge test at the first try. Then i went back to do the 6 hours Behind The Wheel and the Instructor, Mercedez, was a very good instructor and taught me a lot of things to become a better driver. After that I took my Road Test and passed it at the first time too. I will recommend Alamo Driving School because they are so great and know what they have to do to help their students become excellent drivers. Thank you very much Alamo Driving School!
Alamo school has helped me over the years, 2013 they helped me get my license, then in 2018 they helped my oldest daughter get hers. And now 2022 im here with my youngest daughter and they are helping her get her permit, then her license. I appreciate Mohamed Abdullaahi and his team. It’s a great school, and he’s a great teacher.
Mohamed was an amazing instructor! After failing my driving test 4 times I had no choice but to go do 6 hours of behind the wheel training. I would like to that Mohamed for making this as easy as possible for me and eventually after a hard 6 hour session I was able to pass! Please consider this driving school!!!

not awful education, I passed my knowledge test on the first try. nice instructors and air conditioned building-not bad at all.
There is a lack of communication between the 3 people that work in this small, worn-out school. Ask the same question to all 3, and you would get 3 very different answers. This has a huge and negative impact on both the student and the parent. They'll try to take as much money as they can for a very small amount of service. Pay extra and go to a trustworthy school, don't waste your time with Northgate. I would give the school a negative number of stars, if the option was possible.
My driving instructor for my driving hours was amazing! He did a great job of showing me everything I need for my test. Also doing class instruction here definitely helped and I would totally go here to get everything you need to be a good driver.
Go anywhere else...these people do no return calls. The hours listed on their website are not accurate, apparently they work whenever they feel like. I have 5 more children who will need driver's ed, but will NOT be using Northgate in the future. My daughter needs her last 1 hour and has her test scheduled, but we can't get anyone to answer the phone!!! Other driver's ed places have the ability to schedule hours online, yet this place doesn't even know what hour their client's are on...we have to tell them each time we've called.

I liked the flexible times in classes and behind the wheel lessons.
Elite Driving School is the best place to go for driver’s training in the south Minneapolis/Richfield area. The owners and instructors care about each student getting excellent classroom and behind the wheel instruction. Our student was able to easily get his classroom work and behind the wheel sessions scheduled and he was well prepared for both the written permit test and the driver’s license driving exam. We recommend Elite Driving School to get a driver’s license.
I would not recommend this school for anyone who is looking to get their license in a timely manner. Scheduling my daughter's behind the wheel has been terrible and nearly impossible. She could have taken her driving test multiple times by now, but can't finish her behind the wheel. It's been 3 months of constantly trying to get a lesson . We check the schedule multiple times daily and email. She easily has over 100 hours of drive time and I would absolutely feel confident with her taking my car anywhere. It's been so bad I signed my other child up at a different driving school. I guess Elite doesn't need my business or money.
Dealing with this company has been a nightmare. I have called several times to try to get a behind the wheel scheduled and am still waiting for a return call. The last time I called the voice messaging system was full. This has been one of the worst experiences and I have had three other kids go through drivers ed. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They have no follow through with their customers. I need to get 2 more behind the wheels scheduled so my son can take his test - So far I have not gotten any calls returned.
