Passed the road test in a first try, and everything is finished within a week - two-day practice and a final practice before the road test. Highly appreciate the accurate and professional support during all the sessions at Tesfu, every instruction and comment works efficiently, helping me understand the key concept in driving quickly. Comparing to my past experience in other driving school - sitting in the car and repeating bad habits without being pointed out, Tesfu driving school really did great job in helping new learners become a mindful and respectful driver.

Tesfaye is one of the most caring, respectful, and calm instructors you’ll ever meet. I found him to be very insightful and experienced. He helped me pass my driving test and on top of that gave me lessons that i will forever utilize. A friend recommended Tesfaye after finding out i was scared of driving and postponing to take the driving test. Tesfaye was so calm and mindful on how to handle his fearful students. He doesn’t make it seem like it’s your first time driving, he seats in the passenger seat and shows you how he is confident in you, and he gives you comments that will shape your entire experience. Absolutely amazing service. Instructor taught me from the absolute basics and led me to succeed on my driving test. It's not often a business has 200+ 5 star reviews, but Gmel Driving Academy does and the reviews are right! As an adult driver who hadn't driven in years and had no experience driving in DC, Gilbert was patient and gave lots of practical advice. He tailored the lesson to the things I wanted to work on, and he spent time making sure I felt comfortable. I hadn't driven in cars with modern cameras and parking assistance technology, but Gilbert's SUV had all these features. He taught me lots of little tricks and had me doing parallel and reversing parking perfectly in no time! Gilbert is a fantastic instructor and I can't recommend him and Gmel Driving Academy enough.
I had a terrific experience with Gmel Driving Academy and strongly recommend it! Gilbert is a calm and insightful instructor who helped get me from no driving experience to getting my license in just a month and a half. Gilbert puts his client’s needs and interests first and is very flexible to make sure that they get what they need. He was happy to set aside time and reschedule things as needed. To Gilbert, it’s all about the client and helping them become the best driver possible (and in the time frame that they need). Similarly, I wanted certain kinds of instruction and practice not on the road test that Gilbert was happy to give me lots of time with (e.g. highway driving at various times of day/levels of traffic). I had a fun time driving around with Gilbert and found his instruction incredibly helpful. I was quite nervous when we first started (being an adult with no driving experience at all), but within just a few lessons I was already feeling very confident on the road. His method of instruction is very much just letting you drive and commenting only where needed to assist and improve your skills. He answers questions politely and thoughtfully. Honestly, can’t recommend Gmel enough!

I am so glad I found Gmel Driving Academy! As an adult (female, mid-20s) with no previous driving experience, I was nervous, but Gilbert was incredibly patient and encouraging. From day 1, I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable, even when navigating circles or other tricky intersections. He was able to calmly help steer when needed and offered helpful tips and answered all of my questions along the way. His step-by-step approach to parallel parking made it easy to learn. Scheduling was easy, and a HUGE plus that he is able to pick up so you don’t have to travel anywhere. Gilbert is very personable and kind and made sure to take a break halfway through the 2-hour lesson. After 12 hours of lessons and practicing around the test center on the day of the test, I was able to pass on the first try! I enjoyed my time learning from Gilbert and would highly recommend Gmel, especially to adults who are learning for the first time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — The Best Driving Instructor! I had an amazing experience learning to drive with Teddy. He was patient, calm, and extremely knowledgeable. The way he taught me parallel parking was unbelievable he broke it down so well that by the time of my test, I did it perfectly on the first try. The examiner was so impressed that after my parallel parking, we only had to drive around the block once… and I passed with flying colors! Honestly, if it wasn’t for Teddy’s guidance, I don’t think parallel parking would have felt so easy. He made sure I understood every step, built my confidence, and truly prepared me for the test. I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. Highly recommend Teddy to anyone who wants to pass their road test stress-free and learn the right way!
I just passed my DC driving test, and its all thanks to the wonderful instruction from this school! I would recommend them highly to anyone, especially folks like me who are learning as adults. Before my lessons with Mr. Ish, the only driving experience I had as a 36 year old was some parking lot practice, and a one hour lesson with a different school (which I didn't think was very helpful so I didn't continue). I took 5 lessons of 2 hours each (10 hours total) with him and found him to be an incredibly patient and supportive instructor. I had a lot of anxiety going into the whole process, and his calm presence always put me at ease and made me more confident. When I would make a mistake like making too wide of a turn into a streeet, he would point it out but also ask me why I did it that way. It felt like he really wanted to get to the root of the issue to help fix it. In the case of turning too wide, we realized that I was misjudging the distance of my car from the parked cars on the street. This thoughtful approach really helped diagnose and correct issues as they came up and it was so satisfying to visibly see myself improve. His approach to teaching parallel parking was super clear, and I was able to confidently parallel park during the test, and have now also done it in relatively tight spots on DC streets! He also recommended doing a last lesson right before the test in the Deanwood neighborhood (where the DMV test takes place). This was great advice, and Mr. Teddy accommodated me for a pre-test lesson on short notice. I used the school's car for the test, which was helpful since I was familiar with it. The day of the test there was a really long wait at the DMV and Mr. Teddy waited with me patiently and was also really supportive. All the communication and reminders from the school about lesson times, locations were timely and clear, Mr. Ish was always on time for picking me up, and it was just a seamless experience end to end.
I took the 10 hour driving course and the instructor Teddy did an excellent job in all the classes, giving you advice and correcting mistakes as you drive. They take you around the road test area and practice everything you need to do during the road test. Don't panic, the road test is easier than you think, at least in my experience.
I had an amazing experience with Mr. Teddy at Star driving school! I bought 6 hours of lessons and he was an incredibly patient and thorough teacher throughout the whole time. He does a good job of making sure you learn the fundamentals and will tell you exactly what you are doing well and practice what needs work. He creates a nice and welcoming atmosphere which I really appreciated especially when I knew there were things I wasn’t immediately improving on and gave me the space to grow. If you are a first time driver I highly recommend working with Mr. Teddy.
This is the best driving school! I had a great experience with knowledgeable instructors. After failing a couple of times with another school, I finally passed my test easily here. My instructor, Tadiyos, was really chill and patient he teaches you everything you need and makes you feel much more confident behind the wheel. Highly recommend this driving school in DC!

Excellent support and service by Ethiostar! They helped me get over my nervousness and I passed the road test on the first try with about 30 mins of practice with them! Last January, I signed up for a package of 6 lessons with Elaine as a licensed adult driver who felt anxious about city driving, highway driving, parallel parking — you name it. I am so grateful I did that because Elaine helped me feel more confident on the road. We covered a lot of ground (figuratively and literally) in those 6 lessons together, which spanned from January to April of 2022. Between those lessons and an additional 2-hour highway lesson with her in May, I now feel much more comfortable behind the wheel. If you’re in need of some driving practice after living in the city for so long, I would highly recommend her!
The driver instructor was very rude and made degrading comments. Would not recommend. This is not spam. Charles Smith's teaching skills are awful and he does not deserve to teach. If I could give zero stars, I would.
Had a great experience learning to drive with Mr. Andre Cheek at CAS. Had never gotten my license and finally decided to get it many years later - Mr. Cheek made the learning experience really comfortable and focused on getting me good at all the necessary skills to be a good driver. Ended up passing my road test in DC easily thanks to his instruction and feel very comfortable on the road. Mr. Cheek was flexible about appointment times, was on time for all my appointments, and was a fun and pleasant guy to talk with during my lessons. Very much recommended.
My experience with CAS was seamless and yielded the intended result! Michael, my instructor, was so patient, taught me clean driving habits from the get-go, and offered words of encouragement all throughout. Booking classes was always easy — the operators were pleasant and provided detailed information. Highly recommend this driving school.
I was recommended this place by a family me ever and I regret it all the time. One of the male instructors was so impatient and getting frustrated with me when I’m completely new to driving, I then had a panic attack because of the rushing of our lessons and me not learning anything. I also paid for 2 lessons for the same week and only got one lesson so they took my money and didn’t refund it AT ALL- I felt like I got scammed. The only thing I like about this so called driving school is the female instructor, I forgot her name but she taught me and was there for me all the way and so understanding. The others instructors can go be rude and disrespectful somewhere else, not coming there anymore, one star.

I was refer by a friend who obviously had good driving lesson from this driving school and today I am happy to write a review to recommend them. Very professional and with new cars full of technology. if you are looking for driving school give them a try.
I can only speak for me but these other people who have bad reviews are lying. Mr Jules and Mr Hernandez are great instructors I had a very bad phobia of driving. They both helped me get over my phobia and they were so nice and made me comfortable and always were on time for our appt they are great instructors and I would recommend them to anyone
Dexterity driving school is the best driving school ever! I passed my road test on the first try. Idriss is really helpful and patient. He gives great tips and will help you learn with ease. I would recommend this to anyone learning to drive for the first time or to those with experience. Overall, the service was phenomenal!
Good at taking the time to help you prepare on what will be on the driving exam, very understandable and comfortable lessons, only minor fault was some communication in details with some things but once its brought up to their attention in the end it worked out. In all I had a good time and very grateful for the teaching & experience thank you.
